Youth in Rural Development

The project was a training course promoting innovative skills, knowledge and attitudes on individual level and supporting of disadvantaged young people from rural areas in their personal development leading to employment. The aims of the project were to teach young people about the advantages of rural business in agriculture, diversification of economic activities, multifunctional approach by seeking personal, professional growth and sustainable rural development.

The main objectives of the project included the following:
– To inspire the next generation of young entrepreneurs,
– To identify the challenges and develop solutions for sustainable social organizations,
– To acquire skills to build a social business,
– To empower job seekers to become self-employed,
– To promote social innovative ideas.

The project employed particular methods to implement its scheduled training activities such as ‘the know how’ technique, the ‘rapid rural appraisal’, case studies, visits of good practice examples and study of participation.

The training course was held in a mountainous area in Cyprus, Agros for six days and involved 32 participants from other EU and non-Eu countries – Armenia, Jordan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, North Macedonia and Belarus
