Policy recommendations for better regulation of the career guidance provided in adult education, project ‘Professional Orientation of Vulnerable Young People – PROVYP’

This is comparative report among the participant countries of the project PROVYP, which issues policy recommendations aiming to enforce career guidance policies in the project’s member states. The measures seek to inform policy makers about evidence based and robust policy options in adult education that can potentially bring positive results: regional and national governments, policy makers in the field of education, training and job search, social services and care. The comparative report has been constructed on the basis of the 8 national reviews carried out by the experts of the project.

The experts recommend to policy makers a process of six steps in order to improve the regulation of the career guidance provided in adult education of their countries, as follows:

1. Ensure consistent evaluation of all career guidance initiatives
2. Ensure equity of access to quality career guidance services for all
3. Stimulate proactive behaviour in employers
4. Deliver well-informed career advice for all
5. Coordinate an effective adult learning policy
6. Deliver learning that meets the needs of the young adults
