Career Counselling and Career Management Services
The Youth Board of Cyprus (YBC) runs the Career Counselling Service and aims to provide youngsters with guidance and information in order to help them make career decisions and support for professional growth.
The programme provides guidance and opportunities in the base of four action pillars:
– Individual Guidance: Career counselling meetings are held in Youth Information Centers or the YBC or via electronic means.
– Career Aptitude Tests: Tools that enhance young people’s self-awareness and help them to make informed decision in their career paths.
– Soft Skills Development Workshops: The workshops are offered to both youngsters seeking for employment and young professionals. They aim to enhance employability skills of youngsters and other skills that help the professional development of attendees.
– Career Academies: The Academies run for 2-3 days and youngsters have the opportunity to attend intensive courses, lectures, workshops by high profile experts on career choice, job hunting, professional development and entrepreneurship.
Despite that the particular programme was not initially designed to run as e-mentoring programme, it went through changes and the mentors through training to meet the current needs. In response to the pandemic, the ‘traditional’ method has been converted to include online counseling support services.
